Christian Sex Rules

Christian sex rules - Dollar club - Right or wrong, opposite signsOutside of marriage, we know that there are sex rules, according to God. It’s a matter of, “Thou shalt not.” But within marriage, are there Christian sex rules that should be observed? Yes!

“When it comes to sex, most married Christians just do what works for them. If they have been blessed enough to have discovered something that brings satisfaction, pleasure, closeness, and climax, they most likely will continue that practice. However, some are plagued with guilt because they wonder if what they’re doing is sinful.

Marriage Partnership [Magazine] receives many questions from Christian couples who want to know what is and what is not okay to do sexually.”

Christian Sex Rules

So, to address these issues, marriage therapists Melissa and Louis McBurney, M.D., attempt to do just that. They answer questions posed to them by their readers in an interview with Marriage Partnership Magazine. To read what they wrote in response we provide a link below. It will take you to that particular article.

Also, As it Pertains to Christian Sex Rules:

Here is an article that is written to wives, but these “rules” pertain to husbands, as well as wives. So just switch the pronouns, and you will gain great insight by reading:

Additionally, on this same issue, here is an article to read that addresses the questions:

What About Oral Sex and Novelty Toys?

And then lastly, the following is written by Linda Dillow and Lorraine Pintus. It comes from the book, Intimate Issues: Twenty-One Questions Christian Women Ask About Sex (that we highly recommend that women read). It is important to prayerfully consider the following questions:

Is it prohibited in Scripture?

If not, we may assume it is permitted. “Everything is permissible for me,(1 Corinthians 6:12, NIV).

Is it beneficial?

Does the practice in any way harm the husband or wife or hinder the sexual relationship? If so, it should be rejected. “Everything is permissible for me — but not everything is beneficial.(1 Corinthians 6:12, NIV).

Does it involve anyone else?

Sexual activity is sanctioned by God for husband and wife only. If a sexual practice involves someone else or becomes public, it is wrong based on Hebrews 13:4, which warns us to keep the marriage bed undefiled.

Cindy Wright of Marriage Missions International wrote this article to help those who are married.

  1. (UNITED KINGDOM)  Please help me. I met a beautiful woman on a dating site. When we met it was like magic, and we felt that we had known each other so well. We were very attracted to each other. We were both non believers. I was to find out soon that she was married. The marriage of the lady was apparently dead as far as she was concerned, and they had not physical relationship for over two years.

My ladies son was ill so I suggested that she take him to a local minister who would pray for him and lay hands on him. She did so, and then embraced the faith, and after a while she finished with me as we were sinning. This lasted a month – and then she wanted me back – telling me she loved me – and wanted both God and me. I am not married.

Now God is working his way into my heart – and I have asked him to enter it, and am embracing it. Now we are both Christian and in love, but we both know that we are sinning in Gods eyes. My love has two children – both with autism – and their marriage is held by this and financial considerations. Please give me advice. And please be kind and not too dogmatic, because although we are in love, we are in pain.

  2. (MIAMI)  my wife said she does not feel loved, and that she wants out.
She has said that she can not have sex with someone that she does not love, though we have been married for six years, makeing november 23 to be seven years.

  3. (U.S.)  I have been married for 17 years and I have no desired libio. My husband is the opposite, he is has a BIG sex drive ALL the time. It is causing problems in our marriage now. I’m on medicine to help but it makes me sick to take it. I feel so disconnected to him. I don’t even like to be touched sometimes sexually by him. What should I do?

  4. (UNITED STATES) I’ve had this question stuck in my head for a while, but I don’t know why, and it’s bugging me. So here it is. Can a Christian get around sex laws by say anal sex, or just fingering or such? or is that still committing a sin?

    1. Where is it written that it’s a “sin” for a husband and wife to do these kinds of things sexually with each other if they both want to do it? I don’t see it.

        1. If Lennon is asking about unmarried sex, then that’s a whole different matter. It would be good to read through the “Sex Before Marriage” topic, which essentially deals with the fact that sex before marriage IS a sin –no matter what the physical positioning or entrance.
