There is little that we can say that would be more important than encouraging you to pray for each other. That includes praying for your spouse head to toe, which we can guide you to do. Someone once said, “If we could see what happens when we pray, we would never stop praying.” And it’s true! And yet most often, when we talk about prayer, we have less people that read about it.
Even so, we KNOW it’s vital that we do so. We believe whole-heartedly that if every married couple was praying together, and praying separately for their spouse, we would see a dramatic drop in the divorce rate. Let’s face it, it’s difficult to feel ill towards someone that you’re praying for because it softens our hearts towards them. When God is involved, there is love.
Additionally, if couples prayed for each other and with each other, we believe we’d see more unity and Christlike love displayed in their interactions with each other. And WOW! What a great witness that would be for a world of people that needs to see married couples reveal and reflect the love of Christ in action!
“Prayer is a powerful tool in any marriage, but too often it’s put on the back burner and considered a last resort. Pull prayer to the forefront of your marriage. Seek the will of God in all that you do and give Him the glory for all that He’s done!” (Darlene Schacht) We’re told in the Bible, “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Praying Scriptures for Spouse Head to Toe

Praying Together
And, if you want a little more insight on praying together as a married couple, we have this prayer guide posted on the Marriage Missions web site, as well. Keep in mind:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work …Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9,12) “A man and wife praying together form a spiritual bond as God joins them in single-minded purpose. (See: Matthew 18:19-20) By uniting in His name and agreeing in prayer, their intercession goes to another level. That’s when one united with one has won.” (Stephen & Alex Kendrick)
There’s no doubt:
“Praying together reminds us that God is in control of everything. We become aware of God’s presence because we know that when we pray together, God is in our midst to guide and direct us in the day-to-day workings of our marriage.” (Bob & Yvonne Turnbull)
Here’s a linked article that could help you in your prayer time together:

Praying for Unbelieving Spouse
And then maybe you are married to an unbelieving spouse. That has a lot of challenges in itself! You especially need prayer, and you especially need to pray for your spouse. But other than praying, “Lord, please bring my spouse to a saving faith” what do you pray? We have a few ideas listed for you that may help. Here’s something for you:

Our Prayer for You
And then, this is our prayer for everyone who reads this posting… we’re praying for your life and your marriage:
Heavenly Father, we ask that you give everyone who reads this the strength and wisdom to live out their marriages and their lives so that You are honored in every area and aspect of them. Help them to put their desires in line with what Your desires are for them as individuals, a couple, and as parents (if that is applicable). May their desire be to partner with You in how they love their spouse, children, extended families and friends, realizing that they are gifts from You. And as much as it depends upon them help them to live in peace with everyone, they encounter this year (as we’re told to do in Romans 12:18). We ask these things so You will receive all the glory and honor, Amen.
In addition, Beth Moore gives this prayer that we agree with and pray for you:
“God, in the name of Jesus, grant the people of Jesus the heart of Jesus to do the works of Jesus in the ways of Jesus till the return of Jesus because the church of Jesus is nothing without Jesus.”
May it be so, dear Lord, may it be so!
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
