Specific Ways God Instructs Christians Not To Make Money

God instructs - Pixabay bible-1840002_1920The following are specific ways God instructs Christians not to make money, as laid out in the Bible.

God specifically spells out ways we are NOT to make money:

NOT by LYING

Getting treasures by a lying tongue is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death (Proverbs 21:6).

NOT by INJUSTICE

Better is a little with righteousness, than vast revenues without justice (Proverbs 16:8).

NOT by AN EVIL EYE

A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, and does not consider that poverty will come upon him (Proverbs 28:22).

NOT by GET RICH QUICK SCHEMES

A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished (Proverbs 28:20).

NOT by SLOTHFULNESS

How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and your need like an armed man (Proverbs 6:9-11).

NOT by THE REVENUE OF THE WICKED

In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but in the revenue of the wicked is trouble.(Proverbs 15:6)

NOT by CHEATING

Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight (Proverbs 11:1).

NOT by DISHONESTY

Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase(Proverbs 13:11).

  1. (ZIMBABWE)  Amen to that. This is even appllicable to business men who are not married. It has given me food for thought for the business that I waned to venture in with my husband. Thank you, keep blessed.

  2. (PHILIPPINES) Good day… this article I read today was actually what I read to my husband lately but I used the Bible instead so I dont have to explain the legitimacy to him…

My husband and I have been in a financial crisis since the day we got married. He loves to decide things w/o actually waiting for my approval.

Now because the company he works for is such a sly one… he is about to do something to make sure he gets his benefits even in a wrong manner, like producing a document that states he was able to purchase a car then files it so he can get his 35% discount from the company he works for (this is his benefit from the company, they will shoulder 35% of the actual cost of the car you are to purchase). I find it not to be right… I told him not to repay them evil even though they did evil on him. I said to just wait for the LORDS blessing instead. I know God will be giving him more than 35% if we obey Him 1st. But unfortunately my husband will not hear me out. Now I am quite bothered that I know that God may rebuke my husband… and I’m afraid that it will not only affect him but also our children….

    I’m a Christian and he’s a non-practicing Catholic …I hope someone can share if I shouldn’t be feeling this way… Thanks!!!

    1. Hello, good afternoon sister. God bless you. I am in a similar situation. All the things we have are through lies. I want my husband to understand so we start a new life. God please have mercy upon us and have hearts for anyone in any situation like this to refrain, through Christ, amen.
