The following are “Real Life” testimonies for those who are dealing with the effect that children have on marriage. We believe you will learn through what they have to say. And we pray you will find hope through reading about the children’s effect on marriages that these spouses have lived through and learned through.

(USA) My wife and I have been married for a little over one year. We’re both in our 50’s. I have six kids that are grown and she has one daughter that is 22. She told her Mother from the start of our dating she wasn’t going to be apart of her life, if she continued to see me. Well, we fell in love and got married. I told my wife from the start I would never, ever get in between her and her daughter.
Well, that changed last week, when her and her boyfriend showed up over at our house and commits to telling her Mother that I was a control freak and monitoring her calls. I said excuse me young lady, and before I could finish my sentence she tells me to shut up that she was talking to her Mother. I told her the best thing they could do is leave our house. Then the boyfriend tells me that he is sick and tried of the “F—ing text I’ve been sending my stepchild and to take it one step farther he would whip my OLD — for me. I told him to hold on just a moment and he could get all he wanted of this OLD MAN’S —.
I reached behind my door and got my axe handle and told him to get all he wanted of this OLD MAN’S —. The point being my wife didn’t correct her daughter for telling me to shut up and my wife told me after they left I needed anger management. I and my wife have been going to marriage-counseling for over two months. Guess what? As long is there is no contact there are no problems.
