(US) For our 15th anniversary, my husband planned a second wedding as a surprise for me. He turned part of our back yard into a “beach” with sand and a little pool filled with water and fake fish. He did this all by himself and spent 2 or 3 years on the planning. When the time came, he made sure all the guests kept the secret from me. I hated being the center of so much attention, but it was a great surprise. I’ll definitely never forget it.
(RICHLAND) One of the most romantic thing that my husband has done for me would be the time he suprised me with a candle lit/ massage/ therapy session. I’m not sure if I have a favorite as of yet (every romance has been my favorite). Sometimes, it’s the little things like coming home with a beautiful card to let me know that he was thinking about me and how much he appreciates me… Wow! http://www.marriagelounge.blogspot.com
(ENGLAND UK) Thank God for the lives of my husband and children. For one of my “special” earthdays, my husband booked a holiday all inclusive, to the Caribbean. Because we are both foster carers for children with severe behavioral emotional and often physically challenged we could not both go away. So my very best friend was came with me, secretly bringing cards and gifts from my children (fostered and birth).
As if that was not sufficient, my husband arranged with a friend of ours in the Caribbean to book a fantastic dinner in a restaurant that overlooked the cliffs near to the beach where I was met with a superb lobster dinner and candle lights. I believe that this was a very romantic jesture and sacrifice as he had to look after the children while I sunned on the beach.
Thank you for allowing me to share this.
(USA/WA, LYNNWOOD) A compliment at the dinner table: with (true, sincere, genuine) fruitful, constructive words to my soul, heart. To hear, “You are beautiful.” Another incident, a love note with dinner waiting for me when I am off work; Victoria’s Secret gift bag, waiting for me. Surprise!
(UNITED STATES) On Valentine’s Day 1996, my husband took me out to eat breakfast at our favorite breakfast place before we each went off to our jobs for the day. We each enjoyed our favorite meal and smoothies/coffee. That morning at work, I received a gorgeous arrangement of a dozen yellow roses. At lunchtime, to my amazement (!), in walks my husband with another gorgeous arrangement of flowers for me – a beautiful display of red roses, carnations, and baby’s breath in a vase that looked like a tree trunk with a stuffed teddy bear hanging onto the tree trunk! I was amazed!
That evening when I gave my gift to him, he gave me a lovely plaque that sits on the shelf. It had roses and hearts on it with the saying, “I Love You Not Only For Who You Are, But For Who I Am When I Am With You.” I have always treasured that plaque. And although all of these things were very simple, they made this the most romantic Valentine’s Day ever!!
As a side note: that very day, we found out that I was pregnant with our first daughter (second child), who is now 14 years old!!
(UGANDA) The most romantic thing my husband has done for me; I was going on a long trip with my gal friends, and he asked to borrow my car. Yet in the actual sense, he wanted to insure all was okay with it before we traveled. He took it to the washing bay, serviced it and fully fueled it. I didn’t have to spend a penny. It was kinda nyc to feel special that someone wants you back home safe and sound.
(USA) When I arrived home at 3:00 AM, after a 19 hour drive from TX, a candle light bubble bath was ready for me and he bathed me. He said that he missed me, I had been gone for a week. It was so thoughtful and sweet. I will never forget it!
